Every young boy wants his dad to take him fishing. My father is a man with many hobbies and unfortunately fishing hasn't been one of those hobbies since he himself was a young man. Recently my mom reminded me of a time when I begged my dad to take me fishing, I even offered to bait his hook! It was an unsuccessful attempt but over the years I have never stopped begging my dad to take me fishing. I finally figured out that the only way to get him to go wasn't by asking him to take me, but rather by asking if I could take him fishing. This summer he finally conceded. We had a memorable trip to New Mexico where we fished the famous San Juan River. What a place to take your dad fishing! We fished all day and by the end of the afternoon we couldn't keep the fish off my dad's line. He was fishing a 7' 6'' bamboo fly rod that his father had built many years ago. Those Navajo Dam rainbows put a pretty good bend on that old rod since the majority of the fish we caught were well fed and over 17''. Now days my dad finally wants to take me fishing. I'm not as young as I was when I offered to bait his hook, but Dad I'll go fishing with you any day! I'll even tie on your flies if you'll take me!

Boulder Mountain Fishing
For the past two summers my brothers and I have been lucky enough to make it down to the boulder mountains in southern Utah to fish for trophy brook trout. This year there were times when the fishing was slow, but as brothers we managed to have fun the entire time. We haven't found any trophy fish there yet, but they are there, so we've heard. This year we also came across a small lake full of Grayling which doesn't happen everyday. It was awesome! Can't wait to get up there again next year!
